The oil pipeline to Haifa from Iraq sabotaged by guerrillas, summer 1936. This was probably one of the earliest instances of the impingement of the Palestine problem on the flow of oil to the West. In the foreground are members of the Jewish Settlement Police (JSP), who were organized and armed by the British to fight the Palestinians. The JSP remained in existence until the end of the Mandate. (See 279-280).
